Northern Trust Open

Project Overview

In an effort to raise public awareness, Team One Advertising approached ASV to help produce a buzz-worthy local media campaign bringing attention to Northern Trust as the new title sponsor of what was previously the Nissan Los Angeles Open. The goal was to create fun, interactive golf scenes at various iconic locations throughout LA, while filming celebrities for a promotional video spot during the weeks leading up to the event.

With an aggressive schedule of targeting 18 locations over the 2 weeks leading up to the Northern Trust Open, we created several different branded golf activations that travelled to a new location each day to interact with the public. Iconic LA landmarks such as Dodger Stadium, Pink’s Hot Dog Stand, LA Coliseum, Santa Monica Pier and Angels’ Flight were supported by celebrities such as Jerry West, Antonio Villaraigosa and Tony Hawk, who were interviewed by Jane Yamamoto as they hit balls from a surfboard to the beach, from the 50’ yard line, home plate, etc. At Pink’s Hot Dog Stand, an LA landmark since its opening in 1939, we created a putting green with Guacamole and Salsa traps that were a huge hit with fans and patrons alike.

From securing location and filming permits, to fabricating putting greens and custom branded tents and flags, the ASV team handled all the logistics of managing this local tour, including staffing and transportation, while supporting our clients and their filming schedule. Our clients were thrilled that we managed to pull off so many locations on a limited budget and all the public interaction helped raise awareness for a successful Northern Trust Open!
